Concept and Experience
Immerse yourself in the fundamentals of acrylic painting in this comprehensive workshop aimed at artists who are just beginning their pursuit of the medium. Paint chemistry, materials and tools, techniques, and color theory will help you to establish a painting tool kit and the ability to take your practice to the next level.
Through demonstrations and hands-on experience, Shane will share a variety of techniques and concepts, including the application and manipulation of paint and surfaces, identifying and controlling color, value, temperature, and saturation, and creating compositions from both ovservation and invention. The workshop will conclude with a day of guided open exploration with individualized feedback from Shane throughout.
Open to novice and beginner students.
Shane Walsh's painting are the result of his involvement with collage, both in a literal sense and as a conceptual framework for understanding the legacy of abstraction. He works in both New York and Milwaukee, where he teaches in the Painting and Drawing area at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Shane's work has been included in solo and group exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, St. Louis, and Miami.
